Please Read

I have been dealing with some serious drama regarding my blog lately so I thought I would share with you all exactly what has happened. This is going to be long but I urge you to please read through to end. There are some large companies at fault here who are taking no responsibility and they should be ashamed of themselves.

Let's start at the beginning. In 2010 I decided I wanted to start this makeup blog. I started using blogger and had a simple blopspot address. In June I decided I would like to purchase a domain name and chose Confessionsofaglitterholic . Going through blogger ( which is a Google product, you can see a whole list of Google owned products here.) I registered my domain name. Confessionsofaglitterholic.com . Blogger handled all of the registering with Go Daddy. I had no interaction what so ever. I believe I paid $10 for them to do this. At this time I also set up my Google Wallet to be in auto renew. That means every year I authorized in advance for Google to pay Go Daddy to renew my domain name . 2011 and 2012 my domain was automatically renewed with no problems. Smooth sailing. Then on July 18th I realized my domain was gone. If I typed in confessionsofaglitterholic.com I got an "parked" webpage from Go Daddy. Immediately I tried logging into Go Daddy and then realized I had no log in information whatsoever because Blogger is the one who set up and managed my account for ConfessionsofaGlitterholic.com . So I immediately emailed Blogger/Google. Below are the emails. I did remove my phone number and any other personal identifiable information about myself or the techs.

First email sent from me to Google Enterprise Support on July 30th

Case: #03329929
My domain name did not automatically renew using google wallet and now it not working.

Hello,

Google Apps offers domain registration with the help of registration partners, and the Google Checkout service. All domain registration sales are final.
To enable or disable automatic registration renewals:
1. Log in to your Admin console.
2. Click 'Domain settings.'
3. Click 'Domain names.'
4. Check or uncheck the box next to Automatically renew my domain registration every year. If you choose to automatically renew domain registration, you'll receive a reminder via email four weeks in advance of the Google Checkout charge to your account.
5. Click 'Save changes.'
Please note that all sales are final with domain registration renewals. Google Apps does not provide refunds.
You can find more information about domain registration and renewals in our online help guide:

Hello Christina,

Thank you for your message. I understand you need to renew your domain and I can help.

To do this, you need to access your Google Apps account. If you were not aware you had a Google Apps account, I am informing you that you do; this was included with your domain purchase.

Since you bought this through Blogger, by default, your Google Apps username is <removed>

You should have a an email at your secondary email address to reset your password.

If you do not, please go to
admin.google.com and click on 'Can't access my account' > I forgot my password and enter the email '<removed>'. Keep in mind you are resetting the administrator password.

Please let me know if you were successful in accessing your account, and we can go from there.

Sincerely,

Google Enterprise Support

Hello Christina,

Thank you for your response and update.

I just spoke with GoDaddy and they advise me that it seems that your domain is registered directly through them and is not currently managed via Google.

Do you recall transfer your domain registration outside of Google?

To be sure, please contact Godaddy at
480-366-3700 or email them at gdomains@secureserver.net to obtain the current status of your domain registration.

I remain available to assist if you need any additional help, you would just need to respond to this message.

Sincerely,
 Google Enterprise Support

The reason he was seeing that my blog was registered through Go Daddy and not managed via Google/Blogger was because I had already lost the domain. Somebody else purchased it and registered it using Go Daddy. At this point he was trying to tell me that I took my blog off of auto renew and transferred it to Go Daddy. I was still under the impression that I could renew the domain name and the tech was clearly clueless on what the situation was at this point.

Hi ,
I do not remember transferring my domain and almost sure I did not. When I updated my billing info yesterday it said next billing was august 1st to Go Daddy.. Does that mean that it will renew the blog tomorrow or do I still need to call Go Daddy?

Hello Christina,

Thank you for your response.

I don`t see an indication that you had requested this change, but since GoDaddy is the registrar, if they claim it's managed through them, I would definitely reach out to them to find out what exactly happened.

Once you've spoken to them, may I ask you for an update? I want to make sure that there was no wrongdoing on our part in any way.

I am leaving the case open and will wait for your response.

Sincerely,
 Google Enterprise Support

At this point I called Go Daddy and to my shock they told me that the domain expired and someone else had purchased it. They told me it was purchased privately and they could not tell me who bought it but they could arrange communication if I wished to buy the domain back from the new owner.

I called them and because the domain expired somebody else bought it. I know I did not transfer it to them. I expected it to be renewed by google wallet like it was previous years. I am very upset at this point. There is no way to get the domain back unless I try to purchase it from the new owner.

Hello Christina,

Thank you for your patience and I apologize for the delay.

I would like to inform you that I've raised this issue with our Domain Registration specialists yesterday but I was still waiting to hear back.

There is no indication that you've done anything wrong, it seems that our product's behaviour was not what it should have been. That being said, I need to prepare you for the possibility that it may not be possible to obtain this domain back since it now belongs to someone else. I know it's far from ideal and you have every right to be upset at the product's behaviour.

What I wish to make sure of is that your support experience is as good as can be and that we take every step we can in order to make this right. Thank you for understanding.

We will update you as soon as we know more.

Sincerely,
 Google Enterprise Support

Hello Christina,

Thank you very much for your continued patience. My name is <removed> and I will be looking after this case as <removed> is away from the office.

We verified with our specialists concerning this issue. Unfortunately, we are unable to retrieve this domain for you. The domain was set to renew in June 18, 2013.

The reason for it not renewing was that the billing information was not verified in time.  Domain can be recuperated within 19 days of it's expiration. Because the billing information was not verified until July 30th, it triggered the domain to suspend and then enter into a redemption period.

I very much apologize for this as I know this was not the answer you were looking for. If it was possible, It would have been my pleasure to renew this domain for you.

At this time, I would recommend that you contact Go Daddy to see what other options that are available to you at this time. They can be contacted at
866-938-1119

If you have any further questions or concerns we remain here to assist 24/7. Please feel free to reply to this email if you have any further questions and it would be our pleasure to help you.

Sincerely,

 Google Enterprise Support

At this point I am FUMING. The email address I used for blogging and my secondary email address BOTH never got any type of notification that my billing info needed to be verified. Nor was there any notifications when I logged into blogger, gmail or anyplace else. I personally called Go Daddy numerous times trying to figure out a way to get the domain back and explaining to them that it should have been sold. I also was able to find "who" bought my domain. It was a company called Domains By Proxy LLC. I called them and explained the entire situation. The guy on the phone was helpful enough to tell me I should just say good bye to the domain name because purchasing it will be VERY costly. That the person who bought it is private but a big customer of theirs. He advised me to just wait and not to express interest in the domain whatsoever because usually people who buy domains for profit let them go after a year if nobody has made offers on them.

Hi <removed>,
I find your response to be less than sufficient. There are a few things I have issues with. Number one, I was never notified on this email address, blogger account or through the email my blog information is sent too that I needed to verify information. How can I know to do something if I am not notified or told it needs to be done?????
Second, do you not think I have contacted Go Daddy, the person who bought the domain and anybody else who could expedite this situation and help me get the domain back? Go Daddy can do nothing except facilitate a sale between me and the new domain holder. The domain holder wants over $1,000 for the domain. The domain that was MINE and handled by GOOGLE.
I am extremely upset by your lack of compassion, responsibility and level of customer service regarding this whole incident. I spent the last 3 years trying to build a fan, sponsor and reader base and now it is all for naught. I have to start over fresh. This has caused me to lose the biggest sponsor on my blog and my page views have gone to almost zero. It will take me years to get back to the point I was at. I deserve more than an apology. Your company screwed up. Not me.
I do believe I will be switching my blog over to wordpress in the near future if this situation can not be resolved in a manner that I feel is correct. Obviously you can't/won't get the domain back but there needs to be something done on your part.

_____________________________________________________________
To this day I have not gotten a reply to that final email. I am in NO way responsible for losing my domain name. It was Googles responsibility and they failed. They admit they failed and all the offer me is a thank you. I have put my heart, soul, money and time into this blog. While it may not be the best blog out there it is still MINE and I love it. To simply get a "sorry" is a slap in my face. I lost two large sponsors of this blog. My page views have went from hundreds a day down to less than 10. Basically I am starting a new blog after working my ass off for three years. I figured, Oh well, the big guy wins like always so I bought Confessionsofaglitterholic.net I have been transitioning everything to the .net but like I said above. I basically have no page views. This blog is a joke at this point and a pure waste of time. I am SO mad. Then yesterday I was coming on to blog and accidently hit the .com and what did I see.................... MY FREAKING BLOG PUBLISHED ON THE .COM.

It was my last post from July 17th right before I lost the blog. There is was staring right at me. All of my writing, all of my pictures, all of my sponsored ad's and my links to my social media sites. Before I was pissed but now I am IRATE. I first logged into my blogger to be sure I had no admin access to the .com which is course I did not. Then I called Google who of course does not work on the weekends. Then I called Domains By Proxy and explained it to them and they said I would need to call Go Daddy. I called Go Daddy and first was given a few different departments I needed to email. The person who is publishing my content is violating a copyright law and when I found that out I called Go Daddy again and brought up the DMCA. At that point the operator in the phone informed me that he was not a lawyer, legal counsel and that he can not give me any legal advice on the situation and that this all needed to handled through emails so that all the correspondence can be verified and proven. The screen shot above is what the .com looks like now. My wonderful and hard working web designer was able to break the links to some of the images the new owner was using and to replace my banner with the imposter banner. I have to say that it feels awesome to see that banner. To be able to say that I won  a LITTLE bit means a lot. At this point I have sent the DMCA take down notice and a LONG explanation of the situation to Go Daddy who is the hosting site right now. I just sent it off so I am awaiting a response. Obviously I want the content on the .com removed but even more I want my original domain back. It should not have ever been sold or even available for purchase. I am sickened by the way the Blogger/Google customer service rep has not responded to my emails at all. Not even a generic we are sorry, blah, blah email. Nothing. I am going to be calling them later this afternoon. I get so upset when I deal with this situation that I tuned it out for the whole weekend but now it is time for people to own up to their mistakes and rectify them. I emailed the same tech who was handling my Blogger/Google case on Friday and have not had a response again. I am glad that I spend my money and use Google products galore but get no respect as a customer from Google.

I will post new updates to this whole cluster $%#@ as they come in.
Thanks to my readers and if you can please let anyone who was a reader know that my new site is
www.confessionsofaglitterholic.net I would appreciate it .
